Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor
Facing The Millennium
(HCR CD1022)
The sound of Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor is practically synonymous with Louisiana. For the past 10 years, they have been delivering the universal message of peace and One Love to audiences around the world. With their upbeat stage performances and funky Rasta-blues grooves, you're sure to catch the fever for the Flavor.

Facing The Millennium is the follow-up to the hugely successful debut Will Work for Food and Money. The songs Poor Man, Dreams & The Sound In The Sea are also featured in the sound-track of the new and controversial film Gutter Punks, which focuses on street kids in New Orleans. The songs add a poignant touch to the filmmakers' vision.

The songs from Facing The Millennium feature original and thoughtful lyrics in conscious style that has earned the band critical and popular accolades. Combined with the music, which, much like the gumbo of their home state of Louisiana, is a blend of numerous styles and rhythms from Reggae to Blues, Funk to Gospel and Zydeco to Pop, the band has forged a truly original sound and vibe that is taking the music world by storm.

One of the songs to pay particular attention to is Blues Is Reggae, which delivers a soulful, bluesy groove reminiscent of the Staple Singers and seeks to find the connection between Reggae and Blues. This cut is sure to be a smash on both Reggae, Blues, and R&B stations.

Other gems on Facing The Millennium include the Soukous/Funk drive of Mama Africa, the silky sweet soulful harmonies of Praising Jah, and the crowd-pleasing Family, which pays tribute to the most enduring ties in our lives.

Kicking off the CD are the two songs chosen as the first single from the CD, Poor Man & Dreams, which have received strong radio support from Reggae, Blues, R&B, & Gospel stations. The Rasta-gospel sound of Poor Man combined with the pounding Reggae/Funk of Dreams serves to anchor this CD soundly. While finishing out the CD are three gems from the Flavor vault. Lend a Hand, The Sound In The Sea, and Throw Down Tonight offer a unique glimpse into the formative years of the Flavor Band. The songs convey all of the vitality and charm of the Louisiana experience. Just one taste and you'll agree. Play Facing The Millennium, and feel the power of these Louisiana legends.
